Hi, I am restoring a SB300/SB400 station (I live with solid state, but for fun vacuum beats silicon any day). The trouble is that the SB300 (master) HFO oscillator doesn't like being connected to the S400 on 40m and 20m. That's not quite true- the HFO refused to oscillate on 40m when connected to the SB300, but after I tinkered with the coils, I now can use the twins on 40m, but the 20m crystal now refuses to oscillate. I haven't been able to reverse this. The other bands work fine- in fact I have a bit of fun Dxing into Europe on 40m with the twins. I have swapped the valve and I have swapped the crystals from the SB400 (where they go just fine) and without joy. The oscillator (TGTP) circuit is so simple that it just can't not oscillate. Somebody, please point out to me the very simple, very obvious, dumb thing I have overlooked. 73, Robin ZL4IG ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This Message has been successfully scanned by Mail Marshal at Venture Southland Please forward your enquiries to enquiry@venturesouthland.co.nz ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Attention: The information contained in this message and or attachments is intended only for the person or entity to which it is addressed and may contain confidential and/or privileged material.
